Conference Lay Leader Election Process
By conference rule the election of the Conference Lay Leader will take place at the Laity Session of the Rocky Mountain Annual Conference the same year as General Conference. The application form is published on the Conference web site (http://rmcumc.org/COI/ac/ac2008). You can also request the form by mail to the Board of Lay Ministry, 6110 Greenwood Plaza Blvd, Greenwood Village, CO 80111-4803 or email to hillej at plains.net or phone 970-358-4389.
Completed applications will be included in the pre-conference mailing for Annual Conference so they are due March 10, 2008. Time will be allowed for those who have completed the Board of Lay Ministry-approved application form to address the laity session and the vote will then take place. No nominations will be accepted from the floor.
The conference lay leader term is four years with re-election possible for another four-year term for a total not to exceed 8 years.
The description of Conference Lay Leader position can be found in the 2004 Errata to the Book of Discipline which is published on the Rocky Mountain Conference web site (http://rmcumc.org/COI/ac/ac2008/2004BODerrata.htm) and the Board of Lay Ministry http://www.rmcbolm.org/Duties%20of%20Lay%20Leader.htm. Conference rules are in the 2007 Journal II, page 483 and also on the RMCUMC.org web.
A candidate shall be a member of a local United Methodist Church for 2 years and active in the Rocky Mountain Conference for the previous four years.

Quiet Disciple Award Nomination Process Underway
The Quiet Disciple Awards at our District and Conference annual meetings recognizes those in our churches who are the "unsung heroes"--those quiet disciples of Jesus who go about their consistent work around our churches and whose names may not be on any list somewhere and are rarely formally recognized for their faithfulness. Find the form here on the RMCUMC.org web: http://rmcumc.org/CHI/DistrictSites/. Pikes Peak Sub-District has a form on their page. The process of nomination of persons from your churches needs to be well underway. The completed nomination form needs to be forwarded to your District or Sub-District Lay Leader. These addresses are on each District/Sub-District's web page on the RMCUMC.org web site: http://rmcumc.org/CHI/DistrictSites/ More information on this award may be found here: http://rmcbolm.org/new_QDpage_1.htm
Pikes Peak Brochure Link Correction
The story yesterday about the Pikes Peak Sub-District Annual Conference February 23, 2008, at East UMC in Colorado Springs had an incorrect link to the brochure. Here is the correct link: http://rmcumc.org/CHI/DistrictSites/PikesPeak/annual_conf_brochure_2008.pdf
