Board of Stewards Shares Purpose Statement
Have you wondered what the Board of Stewards does and how this group relates to the rest of the conference? The Board of Stewards have wondered the same thing. For the past year and half we have been striving to learn the process of Board Governance where we oversee the programmatic areas of the Rocky Mountain Conference and bring together, at the Connectional Table, the administrative and Episcopal areas of the Conference. Discovering our purpose, using the Board Governance model, has resulted in the following Board of Stewards Purpose Statement:

	"The Board of Stewards acts on behalf of the members of the Rocky Mountain Conference and the communities we serve, to accomplish the programmatic results of the Conference as a whole and avoids intolerable circumstances which violate the Book of Discipline and or the rules established by the Rocky Mountain Annual Conference."

Board of Stewards Seeks Offering Recipient Requests
The Board of Stewards selects the receipients of the offerings from the worship services at Annual Conference. Any board, committee, or agency may submit a request in writing (letter, e-mail or fax) to the Co-Chair of the Board of Stewards by March 10th. Such a request must include the name of the requesting group and the purpose of the offering's use. The Board of Stewards will select the receipients at their regularly scheduled meeting March 15th. Send requests to:

News from the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits
Ernst & Young Financial Planning Services Free in 2008
This year, Ernst & Young Financial Planning Services is being offered to eligible participants at no cost. In the past, this service was $99 January 1 through March 31 and $149 after March 31.

Another change to this service is that participants now have unlimited phone time. In the past, this program was sold in three-hour blocks. But all this year, participants can call Ernst & Young as often as they like and spend as much time on the phone as necessary.

Ernst & Young Financial Planning Services is available to:
*	active participants,
*	surviving spouses, and
*	terminated and retired participants with an account balance of at least $10,000.
Eligible participants can take advantage of this free service by calling Ernst & Young directly at 1-800-360-2539 between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Friday, beginning January 2, 2008.

Please help us to promote this service. We think it's a valuable clergy education and retirement planning program. If usage is low, however, we will need to reconsider offering it in future years.
Note that this program is also available to any lay persons who are in the UMPIP plan. More information: http://www.gbophb.org/

Application For Equitable Compensation - Second Half 2008
Because some congregations are, at times, unable to financially support their appointed leadership fully, the Commission on Equitable Compensation is able to assist with short-term, limited financial support. Each application is for six months. If you plan to apply for Equitable Compensation support for the second half of 2008, do so immediately. Applications for the second half of 2008 are due by March 20, 2008. Contact Donna Hite at 1-800-536-3736 or 303-733-3736, for an application.

Peaks Sub-district Lay Leadership Training Class Scheduled March 1, 2
Rev. Dr. David Dalke will facilitate a lay leadership training class, "Leading Small Groups" on Saturday, March 1, and Sunday afternoon, March 2, at First UMC, Ft Collins. The class will assist present and future leaders to better understand their role and the power their leadership can have in the success of the group. A retired UM clergy now serving part time on the staff at FUMC, Ft Collins, Dr. Dalke is in private practice as an individual and family counselor, and is a consultant and trainer to churches and businesses in the private and public sectors. His speaking and training experience includes team building/trust/leadership development, positive communication skills, conflict resolution, improving work relationships and managing priorities. Fee for the class is $30.00, which includes Saturday lunch, textbooks and other take-home materials. The class is an advanced lay speaking course, and is open to all laity. Registration forms are available from Rae Batch, (970) 224-0400, or at rmlbatch at aol.com.
