Tithe Transitions
Mission and Money for The Rocky Mountain Conference
Vol. 1 No. 23 February 13, 2008
"...by the fifteenth of every month, each local church treasurer shall remit to the annual conference 10% (+1%) of the previous month's net contributions."
2 Days Remaining to First Report!

Paul Dirdak, our interim treasurer until the first week of January, has left for another assignment (in Africa) but before he left, he finished writing the Tithe Transitions notes. Wayne Bettendorf, our new Conference Treasurer, says, "I believe Paul's parting comments are appropriate for this last T2:'

"Maybe you thought it would never come, but it is here. This is the week of February 15, 2008, the deadline for you to remit your first payment of the Church Tithe Apportionment for the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Still have questions? As always, just ask them.

While you have spent a certain amount of time to remit for January in February, the weeks of February have also been passing and, between March 1 and March 15, you will also complete the same task to remit the tithe of February's receipts.

There is no reason to miss a month. I think that there is really no reason to not tithe every month. There is certainly no reason to not tithe for the accumulated total of twelve months by the end of 2008. Everyone who thinks that a tithe is too much has not met the person who tithes a much smaller income than she or he will ever do.

So, add the weeks' receipts, if you have some deductions to take, take them. If you have some Special Sundays gifts or some Advance Specials gifts to incorporate, list and incorporate them. Tally the remittance sheet (www.______________). Write the check. Address the envelope (or address all twelve while you're at it.) Lick the stamp or ask the grandkid to do so, and amble off to the mailbox.

With your remaining 90% (or 89% for now) do all you can to fix what ails the whole world in your community, in God's name, and with gratitude.

It's been a pleasure,

Paul"
