Robert DeLancey Dies: Service Set, Elizabeth Moves
The previous News post carried the news that retired RMC clergy member Bob DeLancey died February 22. The service has now been set for Thursday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips United Methodist Church, 1450 S. Pierce St., Lakewood, CO. Expressions of care may be sent to his spouse Elizabeth Delancey, who moved last week to 8001 W 71st Ave, Apt 11A, Arvada, CO 80004. (Phone unchanged.)

First Tithe Report Released
The first report of the new Church Tithe report is now on the Conference Web site, under Church Resources, Church Tithe/Finances (or CF&A). The document is in Portable Document Format (PDF) which requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader (download link on the Finance page) and contains comparisons of level of participation of local churches in January 2007 and January 2008. You will note that participation has increased substantially over last year. Conference Treasurer Wayne Bettendorf has provided a summary and other analysis at this web page:
http://rmcumc.org/CR/Finance/January08tithe.htm

Here is an excerpt: "Here is the first Church Tithe report for 2008; reflecting the February reporting of January activity under our new program. But before I go further, applause and thank you to everyone in the conference for their support and commitment to this program.

The bottom line results for the first month are as follows:

January 2008 10% Tithe Received $287,262.17
January 2008 1% Second Mile Received 23,897.44
Total January 2008 Received in February $311,159.61*

January 2007 Apportionment Received	$277,547.57

Increase 2008 over 2007 $ 33,612.04
Increase % 12.1%

*An additional $10,300 is not included in the spreadsheet totals due to unresolved questions awaiting church response. This will bring the total increase to $43, 912 or15.9%.

63% of the Churches reported and submitted by the February 15 due date.
By February 20, this increased to 79%."

One Great Hour of Sharing: Next Sunday!
Please be sure to visit the UMCOR web site (UMCOR.org) for a press release reminding us all that next Sunday, March 2, is the time for the annual One Great Hour of Sharing offering. This offering covers much of the expenses of running UMCOR, so that 100 per cent of each UMCOR Advance gift can go to the relief and rehabilitation ministries designated. As you know, UMCOR receives no funding from World Service.

The press release, entitled "A Ministry of Presence and Hope," is at umcor.org. Resources for this special offering can also be found on the web site. The release may help provide some content for your bulletin for next Sunday.

UMCOR is a great blessing to The United Methodist Church because it helps us to fulfill mandates given to us by Jesus; it is also a blessing to suffering people around the world as it expands its ministries in the name of Christ and with the generous support of church members.

One Great Hour of Sharing is one of six official Special Sunday offerings of The United Methodist Church. Read more at http://UnitedMethodistGiving.org.
