[RMC News] Episcopal Candidate Nomination Process

Dear Lay and Clergy Members of the Annual Conference:

Thank you to those who have already participated in the nominating process for Episcopal elections.    Our Conference Secretary, Alane Currier Griggs, has been diligent to inform us that the deadline for her receipt of the nomination form is Monday, March 10.   The form may be accessed at: http://www.rmcumc.org/COI/ac/ac2008/.     

According to our rules, those persons receiving twenty-five or more nominations shall be invited to participate in discernment conversations at the Annual Conference session and to be listed on a ballet.

Please note the rule (#F-2c.) on page 482 of the 2007 RMC Journal.   

	Up to the beginning of the setting of the bar during the opening session of the year preceding the Jurisdictional Conference session, names may be added by petitions bearing the signature of twenty-five or more members of the Annual Conference and a signed statement of willingness of the potential nominee.

This rule means that no nominees may be surfaced after 7:00 p.m. on June 18, 2008 without a two-thirds vote of the Annual Conference to suspend the rules.
