Dear United Methodist Friends:

On behalf of The People of the United Methodist Church and the United
Nations Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign-a global, grassroots
campaign to prevent malaria-we cordially invite you to join us for a
lunch discussion with faith leaders from the ecumenical and interfaith
community as we discern our emerging role in the fight against malaria.

As you know, The People of The United Methodist Church, along with many
faith communities, have been in mission across Africa for more than 160
years. Our commitment to preventing malaria is the reason we became a
founding partner of Nothing But Nets. Understanding the devastating
effects of malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa, has inspired
us to serve as a leading partner in Nothing But Nets to distribute
anti-malarial bed nets to families in need. With the United Nations
Foundation, we join the National Basketball Association's NBA Cares,
Sports Illustrated, Major league Soccer's MLS W. O. R. K. S., the Mark
J. Gordon Foundation, and VH1, among others. This important endeavor has
received unprecedented support from the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation.

During the week of March 24, 2008, Nothing But Nets will be in Denver as
part of a multi-city, national grassroots initiative to engage groups
and individuals on the importance of malaria prevention. As an integral
part of this effort, faith leaders from Denver are invited to join a
lunch discussion on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Pepsi Center. We
will come together as a community to pray for children and families who
suffer from malaria, discuss current issues and threats posed by this
disease, and seize the opportunity for all people of faith to get
involved in this lifesaving effort. Through educational campaigns and
raising money to buy bed nets communities, congregations, and religious
institutions can make a difference and save lives.

The luncheon will be held at 12:00 pm MDT and will conclude by 1:30 pm
MDT at the Pepsi Center (1000 Chopper Cir, Denver, Colorado 80204).
There is no charge for this event, though a reservation is required.
Directions for parking and room information will be provided in advance
of this program. Please RSVP regarding you and your guests to Jamie
Poslosky at (202) 572-2882 or Jamie.Poslosky at gmmb.com
<mailto:Jamie.Poslosky at gmmb.com> by Friday March 21, 2008.

In sub-Saharan Africa, a child dies every 30 seconds due to malaria. By
answering God's call, we can come together and end this terrible
disease. Thank you for taking this first step in preventing malaria.

Blessings,

Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr.
Bishop Thomas J. Bickerton

Denver Area United Methodist Church

Please note that reservations are limited to a first come first serve
basis.
